The Children’s Place Recalls Approximately 38,000 Children’s Pajamas

Children’s pajamas must meet rigorous federal flammability standards in order to ensure they are as safe as possible. Many clothing items meant for children have been found to violate these standards. When this occurs, often a company will voluntarily recall the offending product. Last month, Klever Kids voluntarily recalled approximately 7,000 pajama sets and nightgowns because the products failed to follow federal flammability standards for sleepwear. This month, The Children’s Place is also recalling about 38,000 children’s pajamas due to a violation of federal flammability standards.

According to the CPSC, “the garments are being recalled because they do not meet the tight-fitting sizing requirements.” Due to not meeting the federal flammability standard for children’s sleepwear, the recalled garments pose a burn hazard to children. To date, no incidents or injuries have been reported.

The recalled cotton pajamas were sold in three different styles. The styles include a pink style with darker pink bunnies and a neck ruffle, a blue and green style with bunnies with eyeglasses and a blue and green style with bunnies and chicks. The pink style was sold in size 9-12 months and the other two sets were sold in sizes 9-12 months, 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2T and 3T. All of the pajamas include a printed label at the neck with the words “Made with love by PLACE.”

The recalled pajamas were sold at The Children’s Place retail stores and online at The recalled pajamas were sold from January 2012 through May 2013 for approximately $15. Consumers are instructed to take the pajamas away from children. The Children’s Place will provide a full refund for all returned pajamas. Consumers can contact The Children’s Place at 877-752-2387 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET weekdays.
